How to go to Dinner with The Great Elephant
You can have dinner at Bali Zoo that is located centrally in Bali’s cultural Gianyar Regency. The zoo is only 15 minutes from Ubud, or 45-60 minutes if you are coming from the southern main tourist areas. 1. Explore the Bali Zoo

Then you can ride the double-decker bus from the main area of the Zoo to the 100-year old traditional Sumatran buffalo house. There you can enjoy the grand Kampung Sumatra wildlife area. In this Kampung Sumatra, you can try to interact directly with the animals with some activities like Bali Zoo elephant expedition. You are also allowed to observe a dozen great elephant bathing, hand feed them, and also take photos with them. Before heading dinner, you will continue the tour to visit the Sumatran tiger, tapir, and sun bear exhibits. You will also encounter nocturnal animal located at the nearby waterfall area in Bali Zoo.
2. Dinner with the Great Elephants
As the main thing of this activity, you can enjoy dinner at the Gayo Restaurant from 18:30 to 21:00. Here you will be seated within meters away from a small herd of elephants. The elephants are adorned in colorful fabrics inspired by decorated royal pachyderms of India. They are all accompanied by their mahouts who are wearing a traditional Sumatran costume. You are allowed to take photos with them. The sumptuous buffet dinner is served with 60 menus, mixed from the international, Indonesian, and Indian taste. Grilled BBQ is also served to complete your dinner.
3. Be seated and enjoy the traditional performance
At 19:30, the elephant troupes will do a performance of Saman dance or also known as the dance of thousand hands. The Saman dance is a fast-paced traditional dance from Gayo ethnic group, one of the ethnic groups in Sumatra. The elephants will come out with a parade, they will lead the performers for the next attraction. The next attraction you can enjoy is a 20-minute Balinese contemporary fire dance.
